International Conference on Hate Crimes to take place on December 10

December 7, 2020

On December 10, we invite you to participate at an online conference “Promoting Effective Response to Hate Crime and Hate Speech in Lithuania”. The conference is a part of a larger annual event, the National Forum on Human Rights. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held remotely.

The conference aims at:

  • Drawing the attention of government institutions to the necessity of effective response to hate crime;
  • Giving voice to individuals who have experienced hate crime;
  • Strengthening the cooperation between NGOs and government institutions in order to respond to hate crime effectively;
  • Promoting open discussions about the real situation of hate crime in Lithuania and looking for potential solutions;
  • Exchanging ideas and practices of how to fight hate crime on both community and institutional level.

You can register here by selecting discussions marked “Hate Crime Conference”.

The full programme can be downloaded here.

On the day of the event, the conference will be broadcasted on the website of National Human Rights Forum. Participating in the discussion and asking questions will be possible via a special link on the event page.

The conference is organized by the European Foundation of Human Rights, Human Rights Monitoring Institute, Lithuanian Centre for Human Rights, and Lithuanian Police School, as a part of the project MesVisi.
